Citroën has unveiled a coupe-crossover for budget-conscious consumers
Citroën has introduced the compact coupe-crossover Basalt Vision, which will become a production model in the second half of the year. The vehicle will be manufactured in India and Brazil and exported to other countries in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
In terms of chassis, mechanics, and to a significant extent, the exterior, the Citroën Basalt is identical to the latest generation Citroën C3 Aircross. The difference lies only in the body shape: while the Citroën C3 Aircross is a wagon with a flat roof and vertical fifth door, the Citroën Basalt is a liftback with a sloping rear end.
Under the hood, the Citroën Basalt will feature a 3-cylinder, 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine with a power output of 110 horsepower. In Brazil, it will be equipped with a flex-fuel system for gasoline/ethanol.
Buyers of the Citroën Basalt will also have the option of choosing an automatic transmission with a torque converter.
