Nissan plans to reintroduce the Xterra SUV to the market
The Japanese automaker Nissan is actively considering the revival of its legendary off-road vehicle, the Xterra. Recently, there has been an increase in demand for large SUVs worldwide.
While the Pathfinder model was refreshed a few years ago, it lacks a body-on-frame construction, which prevents it from being considered a full-fledged off-road vehicle, even with the version adapted for challenging roads.
Currently, discussions are underway at Nissan about reintroducing the Xterra model to its vehicle lineup. The company aims to maintain a relatively affordable price for the vehicle.
Considering the presence of a body-on-frame and a powerful engine, such a price remains quite attractive. Under the hood of the vehicle was a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine with 261 horsepower. The only drawback of this engine could be considered its high fuel consumption.
If the new Xterra returns to the market, it could become a serious competitor to the Toyota 4Runner.
